For those who have been patiently waiting on the Cavachon Interest list we are happy to announce that we have an additional litter planned. Kya went in to heat a little early (we were expecting these to be summer / fall puppies) but Charleston Canine Reproductive Center gave her the thumbs up for her first litter. She was bred to Bentley so we are hopeful for spring puppies from these two if all goes well. This breeding will produce F1 Cavachons most likely to be Blenheim (predominately white with apricot coloring), Tri-Colored (predominately white with black and tan coloring) or sable (predominately white with dark brown coloring). We do not guarantee weight, but this litter should range between 12 - 20 pounds. Kya (aka Princess Pandora) is a purebred Bichon Frise whose full adult weight is 11.5 lbs. She is imported from Europe where both of her parents hold Championship titles. Kya is registered with both the FCI (Federation Cynoloqique International) and the AKC registry. In the United States, Kya enjoys life outside of the show ring with her Guardian Home family living in Mount Pleasant, SC where she is the only dog and best (human) friend to Lucas. She us up to date on her DNA and OFA testing. The sire of this litter, Bentley, is our tri-colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (CKCS) whose full adult weight is 16 pounds. He has several Champions in his pedigree which include the well known Champion lines of Castlemar and Sheeba. Bentley's mother is a trained therapy dog who works with Special Needs Children and that temperament is evident in his breeding. Bentley's has an incredibly soft coat with beautiful markings. His coat genetics are aaEess which means he is capable of producing all four color Cavaliers (and therefore a range of Cavachon colors as well). Bentley is great with kids and lives in a household with two young boys who love him dearly. Bentley has a typical King Charles personality, an incredibly lovable spaniel who enjoys long walks, chasing squirrels and cuddling. Although technically a "stud" for our program, Bentley is better described by his family as a lovable goofball. He brings a solid pedigree, strong DNA panel, beautiful coat and sweet temperament to our program. He is up to date on his OFA certifications for heart, patella and eyes. This litter is already reserved by those on our interest list and will not be available for sale. 2020 was certainly hectic for dog breeders as prospective puppy owners scrambled to find a new puppy during the quarantine. Many who felt they didn't have time for a puppy were suddenly trying to find the perfect pet. Although we pride ourselves on being a small home based breeding program, we were happy to help numerous families find their perfect pet but we know many are still waiting and anxious to know what we have planned for 2021. If you are on one (or more) of our interest lists or are considering adding your name, here is some information on what we currently have planned for this spring. CAVALIERS - We hope to have at least 3 litters of purebred Cavaliers this year and will potentially have additional puppies from our studs. All three planned breedings can result in ANY of the traditional colors (Blenheim, Tri-Color, Black & Tan or Ruby). The first planned breeding will be KoKo - our DNA clear Black and Tan - who will be in heat in February. We're still trying to decide which male we will use for KoKo but will update this post once a breeding is confirmed. Our first litter of Cavalier puppies are expected around April 2021. CAVACHONS - We will attempt at least three litters of Cavachons this year and perhaps four. Those on the Layla interest list have been waiting a while as her last heat did not result in a pregnancy. This spring we will make another attempt with Layla as well as try for a first litter from Kya. Both of these female Bichons will be bred with Bentley (Tri-Color Cavalier) in early spring for various Cavachon colors. CAVAPOOS - We've only recently expanded our program to include Cavapoos. We are hopeful to have our first litter in 2021 but do not expect significant litters until early 2022. We are also actively looking for opportunities to stud our beautiful new poodle for outside litters which will be offered to our waitlist. This is currently our shortest list as we are not actively advertising Cavapoos. The majority of the people on this interest list are also on the Cavachon or Cavalier list. If you are looking for a future Cavapoo (more than a year away), we would suggest you go ahead and add your name to the interest list now. The majority of our Cavapoos will be red with white markings. If you would like to learn more about the parents that will be bred this year, please look at our MEET THE PARENTS page and follow our FACEBOOK PAGE where we create albums of our parents and puppies. |
